Injury at Work

A work accident is a specific event that occurred during work, on the way to work or on the way home from work. Work accidents are defined as unexpected events that occur during a certain period of time related to your work hours.

Road accidents on the way to work and on the way back from work for all intents and purposes are defined as work accidents, and financial compensation for damage as a result of these accidents can be obtained from both the company which insured the car and the National Insurance Institute.

How does it work?

First, we will file a claim for recognition of the injury (if the claim is rejected, we can file an appeal within 12 months of the decision.) Next, you will be summoned to a medical committee where the disability rating as a result of the accident will be determined. The committee’s decision can be appealed if the committee’s results do not reflect the insured’s disability status.

What will you be entitled to?

Financing of medical treatments for the injury – this includes hospitalization expenses and various medications.

Vocational Rehabilitation

An employee who is granted 10% or more disability as determined by the medical committee, will be entitled to various rehabilitation treatments covered by the National Insurance Institute.

Injury Benefits

Employees will be paid for the sick days accrued (in the case of self-employment, the injury benefits will cover loss of income as a result of inactivity of the business) and will be paid according to a calculation of three quarters of the employee’s gross salary . The payment will be made within 91 days, after which the employee submits a claim for disability from work. If a claim for disability from work has not been filed and no other source of income has been found, it will be possible to file a claim for “disabled in need” in which the employee will be paid 75% of his average salary under the required conditions.

Disability Compensation

If the medical committee determines that your disability rating is between 10% and 19%, you will be entitled to a one-time compensation payment calculated based on your average salary in the 4 months preceding the injury. An employee who has been granted 20% or more disability will be entitled to a fixed monthly allowance every 28th of the month (the employee can request that the allowance be converted into a one-time lump sum).
